Sherman Armstrong
Head Coach
Hurdles and High Jump
Sherman Armstrong is the Owner and Head Performance Director of VAST Sports Performance where he helps athletes at all levels elevate their game. Having trained hundreds of current professional athletes. Armstrong is considered among some of the best Performance Specialist in his field. From 2012-2014 he served as the Head Speed and Associate Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Georgia Football Program. Armstrong holds a Master's degree in Science of Human Movement and a C.S.C.S certification.

Tim
Coach Sprints
Coach Tim, a Tampa native and Navy veteran, has been active in youth track and field since 2019 and joined the VAST track club in 2023. He earned degrees from Hillsborough Community College, the University of South Florida, and the University of Central Florida. As a collegiate athlete, Tim competed in Olympic weightlifting, bringing a foundation of athletic excellence and discipline to his coaching. Beyond the track, he works professionally as a mathematician, offering athletes a unique combination of physical expertise and strategic insight.

Carlan Arthur
Head Distance & Cross Country Coach
Head Distance & Cross Country Coach. Carlan Arthur Born on July 12, 1984 in the small village of Morvant, Trinidad and Tobago. Carlan started running at the age of 15 years old for Morvant Jets Athletic Club. In the 2004 High School Track and Field season, Carlan Arthur blazed a trail of glory for Mucurapo Senior High, winning the 800m and 1500m events at the Zonal Championships. Coach Carlan has over 15yrs of coaching experience and brings a positive attitude and great energy to VAST Track Club.

Victoria Valdez

I’m born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, I ran track and cross country for Spruce Creek High School and now currently in my fourth year at the D1 level at USF. I specialize in the 1500m while also competing in the 800m and 5k. Coach Victoria Valdez will coach athletes from 100m to Distance

Yolonda Sewell

Yolonda Sewell is a Texas native who grew up in Fort Worth. Ms. Sewell received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and obtained her Juris doctorate from Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Texas where she became the first African American member of the Texas Tech Law Review. In 2008, Ms. Sewell began managing her law firm which consisted of business litigation, family law, and wills and estates. She also served as general counsel for two non-profit entities. After six years of full-time law practice, Ms. Sewell transitioned to legal academia with the goal of improving the law school pipeline and access to legal education for historically marginalized communities.

Jonesha Pierrelus
Team Mom
Jonesha Pierrelus prefers to go by "Jo" has been with the team for 6 years. Jo has a degree in Office Management/Administration and has been doing Administration duties for VAST Track club for 5 years. Jo also serves the secretary on the Board.
